Compass Land Consultants, Inc. (CLC) has a rolling admissions policy for forestry applicants. CLC is a progressive forestry consulting firm that currently manages over 450,000 acres of Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified land in the Upper Great Lakes. Our clients include corporate landowners, conservation organizations, municipalities, and non-industrial private landowners. CLC utilizes the latest tools and technologies to achieve our goal in providing sound, comprehensive, sustainable forest management.



  • Implement silviculture for Lake States forest types in the field
  • Perform any forestry activity or other job-related duty as directed by Senior Staff and Project Foresters
  • Conduct all aspects of timber sale setup and administration
  • Forest inventory data collection
  • Management plan development and oversight
  • Client/contractor relations
  • Interpret and report on operability, forest health, and stocking metrics
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Plan and implement BMP compliant road construction and maintenance
  • Obtain professional certifications as requested by Senior Staff


  • We manage property in Upper Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota


  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, or a two-year Forest Technology degree


  • Willingness to travel
  • Excellent orienteering ability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • ATV/snowmobile usage
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in all weather conditions
